Actor Rimi Sen Sues Car Manufacturer Citing Faulty Car And Claims ₹50 Crore

Jaguar Land Rover and its authorized dealer, Satish Motors Pvt. Ltd., were sued by Rimi Sen over the issues she has faced with her luxury vehicle. Rimi bought the vehicle for ₹92 lakh in the year 2020 however, she claims the vehicle has suffered from some defects which have disturbed her peace of mind.

As per the stipulations of Rimi’s client, the vehicle under dispute also had a warranty valid which was to expire on January 2023 boundary. There was a rise in the corona virus infection which resulted in the lockdown and therefore restricted the use of the vehicle. However, as soon as she started using the car, it developed a noisy sunroof, screen lags, and a poorly functioning sound system as well as problems with the rear-end walk about camera.

This degenerative condition increased in intensity on August 25, 2022 when Rimi maintains that she reverse crashed into a pillar while reversing with the faulty image of the rear-end camera which left Abraham leaking and seeping car oil through his eyes. After Kaufman attempted to raise these issues with the Dealer over which she was ignored, she maintains that her issues were brushed aside, the dealership demanding proof first before investigating the problems. This led to an aggravating spiral of experience. Several rounds of spending arose but the core issues remained unsegregated.

Rimi confirms that the car is defective in its design as well as in its servicing by the incorporated dealer. She maintains that the company’s inaction has caused mental harassment and lots of hindrance.

As part of the legal proceedings, Rimi has filed her claim including other costs for actual suffering of the sum of ₹50 crore stating that she has suffered mental harassment. Further, she is claiming additional ₹10 lakh towards the legal fees incurred. She has further demanded that the faulty car be replaced.

Rimi Sen, a popular Bengali actress in ‘Sajani’ and ‘Swapner Din’ movies, has stuck to her guns saying she will not let the company go scot free as she holds them responsible over what she terms as blatant negligence on their part.
