Saif Ali Khan Discharged from Hospital

MUMBAI: Five days after getting seriously injured in a knife attack, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was discharged from the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday. He has been advised complete bed rest for a week and asked not to receive visitors to prevent any infection.

The actor was accompanied by his wife, actor Kareena Kapoor, as he left the hospital for his home in Bandra.

Khan stepped out of the hospital smiling and waving at the fans, who had gathered in large numbers outside the hospital. There was a heavy police bandobast in the hospital premises. Heavy police force has been deployed at the actor's Bandra residence.

The actor spent five days in the hospital after undergoing an emergency surgery. Doctors have said that the actor is out of danger and recovering.

Khan was stabbed multiple times by an intruder on Thursday morning at the actor's house in Bandra. He was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital at 3 am on Thursday. He underwent a five-hour surgery and was shifted to the ICU later. A piece of the knife was taken out of the actor’s body.

The 54-year-old actor suffered six injuries in the attack, two of which were deep cuts. However, he was fortunate to have escaped any severe injuries. He is recovering well, doctors said.

Police have arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national for allegedly breaking into the actor’s home and attacking him. The accused is found to have entered India illegally and had been living under the false name Bijoy Das.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai police on early Tuesday morning took the the Bangladesh national arrested for the attack on Saif Ali Khan to the actor’s house in Bandra to recreate the crime scene and ascertain the sequence of events.

At the crime scene, the police asked the accused to narrate from where he took entry into the compound of the actor's building and how he took the fire exit staircase and then the duct shaft to reach the balcony area of Khan’s 11th-floor house.
