Saif Ali Khan’s attacker was hiding inside?
A chilling attack on actor Saif Ali Khan in the early hours of January 16, 2025, has left the city of Mumbai shaken. The incident, which occurred at his Bandra residence, is now under intense investigation, with police piecing together clues from CCTV footage and other evidence.
Authorities revealed that CCTV cameras did not capture anyone entering the premises within two hours before the attack, leading investigators to believe that the assailant had entered the property earlier and waited for the right moment to strike. The attack reportedly took place at around 2:30 am, and no movement was detected on the cameras post-midnight.
Police suspect the attacker might have hidden inside the house before confronting the 54-year-old actor, who was stabbed six times during a scuffle. The injuries include two deep wounds and one near his spine. Saif is currently undergoing surgery at Lilavati Hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable.
The Mumbai Police issued a brief statement confirming the incident:
“An unidentified person intruded into the residence of actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor and the intruder had a scuffle. The actor is injured and is being treated. Investigation is ongoing.”
The high-profile nature of the crime has sparked criticism from opposition leaders, who have questioned the city’s law and order situation. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi condemned the state government and the police, stating,
“What a shame that Mumbai sees another high-profile attempt on life. The attack on Saif Ali Khan raises serious concerns about the safety of celebrities and the general public in Mumbai.”
The incident has also reignited discussions about the security of Bandra, an area known for housing many celebrities. Chaturvedi drew parallels with other recent high-profile cases, such as the murder of veteran politician Baba Siddique and a shooting incident outside Salman Khan’s home.
“Baba Siddique ji's family is still awaiting justice. Salman Khan is forced to live in a bulletproof house. Now it’s Saif Ali Khan. If celebrities aren’t safe in Bandra, how can anyone feel secure in Mumbai?” she remarked.
In the wake of the attack, Saif’s team issued a statement asking for privacy and patience:
“This is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation.”
The attack has left fans and the public alarmed, with many demanding stricter security measures for high-profile individuals and better policing in Mumbai. As the investigation continues, all eyes are on the authorities to ensure justice is served and the city’s safety is restored.
The incident serves as a stark reminder that even the most affluent neighborhoods are not immune to threats, emphasizing the need for vigilance and improved security infrastructure in the Maximum City.
