Recent rumors are suggesting financial difficulties at Pooja Entertainment; Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani’s production house. There have been allegations from some individuals claiming to be company employees that they still have unpaid dues owed by it.
This has made a large section of Indians believe that the high costs associated with producing films together with box office failures witnessed with recent movies compounded by exorbitant fees demanded by actors such as Akshay Kumar has stretched the finances of the production house causing reports that Bhagnani’s may consider disposing off their office. Vashu Bhagnani has however denied these allegations. He clarified that there were no layoffs at Pooja Entertainment and it was not being shut down either.
In an interview Sunil Darshan was asked about a rumor that Akshay Kumar charges Rs 165 crore for every film he does: “I can’t comment since the figure mentioned by you seems inaccurate” he responded, “That seems to be closer to Tiger Shroff’s price.” Darshan confirmed this but did not explain how much money Akshay Kumar takes per movie.
Darshan recalled Vashu Bhagnani’s golden era with David Dhawan in the 90s, when Bhagnani was enjoying a ‘Midas Touch’. However, he added that this phase of his success did not last and Bhagnani’s movie ventures over the past two decades have not been as successful despite having a thriving construction business.
