Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani Complain Against Ali Abbas Zafar on Diverting and Misusing Production Funds
In an important twist of events, Pooja Entertainment’s producers Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani have filed a complaint against director Ali Abbas Zafar alleging that he has misused the Subsidy credited during the making of the film. This particular complaint was filed with the police on the 3rd day of September 2024 at the Bandra Police Station where it was reported that producers had allegedly defaulted on payments.
According to more recent reports the Bhagnanis are only seeking ICO enforcement against Zafar along with his co producers Himanshu Mehra and Ekesh Ranadive who were allegedly involved in various high handed underhand practices including fraud cheating funds misappropriation criminal conspiracy laundering and har/formula drying Hyderabad chief har. The due diligence allegedly further relates to the poorly accounted funds which had come to the accused as subsidies from the authorities in Abu Dhabi with respect to the shooting of the concerned film.
Additionally, the producers further said that although such promises were made by them, Zafar and his team violated the contracts and asked for extra payments that were not approved, making things worse.
As for the accusations, previously, Ali Abbas Zafar claimed Vashu Bhagnani owed him 7.30 crore for his work on Bade Miyan Chote Miyan film. These accusations were made on September 22 and Zafar has provided the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) a set of documents that he says will support his accusations. However, the director has kept silent on the issue but has explained that he did not want to cause the further delay of his free payment.
It has been confirmed that due to the ongoing investigations, Ali Abbas Zafar is likely to be called for further questioning by the police in the near future.
The film was underperforming at the box office to extraordinary reviews and was released on April 11, headlined by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. While the film was made on an extravagant budget of 350 crore, the film only managed to rake in 100 crore, to the dissatisfaction of all the viewers and critics.
This latest twist will only add to the mess the production saga has been, with both parties now engaged in a fierce fight over how the funds were mismanaged and how little or nothing has been paid to them.
