In a recent interaction, Verma opened up about the extensive research involved in the project, and other details.

Director Suparn Verma’s recent film Haq was released last November, featuring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. In a recent interaction, Verma opened up about the extensive research involved in the project, and other details.
He revealed that Yami studied the Holy Quran to prepare for her role. "We spent almost a year and a half understanding Islamic law," he reportedly said. The filmmaker shared that the research was exhaustive because we live in an "age of misinformation." Verma added, "Everybody has information, but you don't know whether it's right or wrong. In that space, I wanted Haq to be a voice of reason."
Haq was produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios. Although the film opened to a positive critical response, it underperformed at the box office.
Produced on a budget of Rs 40 crore, it collected Rs 30 crore by the end of its theatrical run.
