Devi Sri Prasad Responds to Pushpa Controversy, Calls for Fair Recognition

Music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) addressed the controversy surrounding his work on Pushpa: The Rule during a recent pre-release event. Allegations claimed delays in delivering the film's background score prompted the producers to consider other composers. Directly addressing producer Ravi Shankar, DSP defended himself with a mix of humor and candor, acknowledging their mutual respect but highlighting perceived grievances, saying, “Where there is love, there are complaints.”

DSP also used the platform to advocate for fair treatment of artists. Speaking in Tamil, he urged his peers to demand proper recognition, including screen credits and timely payments. His remarks suggested concerns over how his contributions to the film might be credited, possibly hinting at sharing title credits with other composers.

The event also showcased DSP’s vulnerability and passion for his craft. He humorously recounted waiting for a staged entry and feeling criticized for his timing, blending wit with self-reflection. Addressing the crowd, DSP remarked on the importance of standing up for professional rights, emphasizing that artists must assert themselves to receive fair acknowledgment and dues.

Known for his chart-topping music, DSP has been a key figure in the Pushpa series' success. However, his remarks hint at underlying tensions in the industry, particularly regarding the balance between artistic freedom and professional accountability. Despite the controversy, DSP’s candidness at the event highlighted his commitment to both his work and his principles.

The event ultimately painted DSP as a figure unafraid to confront challenges head-on, blending humor, professionalism, and a call for fairness in the entertainment industry.
