Dil Raju Charts A New Course in Casting Choices
Industry insiders say this move reflects Dil Raju’s intent to break away from conventional casting choices.

Prominent Tollywood producer Dil Raju is once again proving that he isn’t afraid to take risks. At a recent film event, he made a surprising announcement — he plans to introduce successful director Anil Ravipudi as a hero in an upcoming project.
Anil Ravipudi, who is riding high on the box office success of films like Sankranthiki Vasthunam and Mana Sankara Vara Prasad Garu, may soon step in front of the camera instead of directing from behind it. Industry insiders say this move reflects Dil Raju’s intent to break away from conventional casting choices.
“He is looking to break the trend and explore unconventional heroes,” says a source, adding that the producer is keen on pushing boundaries and experimenting with fresh faces from different creative backgrounds.
In a similar move, Dil Raju has already roped in celebrated music composer Devi Sri Prasad as the lead actor in his upcoming film Yellamma. Known for delivering chartbusters in films like Waltair Veerayya and Pushpa: The Rise, Devi Sri Prasad had long harbored aspirations of becoming an actor. The rustic protagonist role in Yellamma reportedly impressed him enough to finally make the transition.
Interestingly, this marks a shift in Dil Raju’s filmmaking approach. In the past, he collaborated with top stars like Allu Arjun (Parugu), Prabhas (Munna), N. T. Rama Rao Jr. (Brindavanam), Ram Charan(Yevadu), and Mahesh Babu (Maharshi), delivering several successful films.
However, with many A-list actors currently occupied with pan-India projects and packed schedules, Dil Raju appears to be charting a new course. By bringing in talent from unconventional fields — including directors and composers — he is aiming to create a fresh wave in Telugu cinema.
Having previously supported actors like Siddharth, Allu Arjun, and Nithiin early in their careers, Dil Raju remains confident that his instinct for spotting talent will once again pay off.
If successful, this bold strategy could redefine hero selection in Tollywood and open doors for multi-talented artists to take center stage.
