Dil Raju to lose heavily on ‘Love Me’
If industry sources are to be believed, ace producer Dil Raju who has invested big in his nephew and actor Ashish Reddy is set to lose a good sum. “With his film ‘Love Me’ failing set box office on fire, Dil Raju is going to lose Rs 4 crore plus since collections are quite bleak and it was made with over Rs 5 crore budget,” he says. Dil Raju was waiting for the appropriate time to release the love story revolving around ghosts and finally got a date on May 25 and he gave it a shot. However, the audience turned the other way. “Many shows were canceled and the film didn't have advance bookings either,” he adds.
The film was released amidst the 10-day shutdown of theatres in Telangana state, some exhibitors reportedly opened 60-odd theatres to screen producer-distributor Dil Raju’s new film ‘Love Me. “We opened one theatre each in 50 centers in Telangana state since Dil Raju is special for us,” says an exhibitor, who claims that Dil Raju who is also a distributor provides them feed for over 40 weeks in a year.
Being produced by Dil Raju’s daughter Hanshitha Reddy,’ the film was hailed as a daring romantic comedy with Vaishnavi Chaitanya of ‘Baby’ fame playing his love interest.
Even Dil Raju, whose last films like ‘Family Star’ failed to set the box office on fire would have been hoping to regain his winning streak with a new-age romance that revolves around ghosts and two lovers but he would be disappointed a bit.
