Diljit Dosanjh vows not to perform in India until infrastructure improves
Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has announced that he will not hold concerts in India until live concert infrastructure is improved. The announcement came during his Dil-Luminati concert in Chandigarh on December 14, where he expressed his concerns about the lack of proper facilities for live shows.
In a video circulating on social media, Diljit said in Punjabi, “Here, we don’t have the infrastructure for live shows. This generates big revenue and provides work for many people... I’ll try next time to have the stage at the center so that you can be around it. Till this happens, I won’t do shows in India, that’s for sure.”
Diljit’s Chandigarh show was dedicated to India’s new International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Champion, Gukesh Dommaraju. He praised Gukesh’s dedication and hard work, encouraging the audience to persevere through challenges. In a lighter moment, he referenced Allu Arjun’s Pushpa dialogue, humorously saying, “Saala nahi jhukega toh kya jija jhuk jayega.”
Ahead of the performance, the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) issued an advisory urging Diljit not to perform songs promoting alcohol or violence, such as Patiala Peg and 5 Tara. Despite the restrictions, the show was a massive success.
Diljit will conclude his India tour with a final performance in Guwahati on December 29. Fans remain hopeful that concert infrastructure will improve, allowing the superstar to return to Indian stages in the future.
