Don 3 Fallout: Ranveer Singh Faces ₹45 Crore Compensation Demand
The conflict now extends way beyond casting discussions. Ranveer Singh reportedly exited Don 3 a few months before filming was scheduled to commence, and sources indicated that the reason for his decision was delays in the project and the absence of a final script.

Hyderabad: The announcement of Ranveer Singh taking over the iconic role popularized by Shah Rukh Khan created significant excitement and curiosity among Bollywood fans. However, it soon became the centre of a major industry controversy involving a dispute between Ranveer Singh, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, production house Excel Entertainment, and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).
The conflict now extends way beyond casting discussions. Ranveer Singh reportedly exited Don 3 a few months before filming was scheduled to commence, and sources indicated that the reason for his decision was delays in the project and the absence of a final script. The dispute escalated when Excel Entertainment sought compensation of around ₹45 crore for losses allegedly due to the project's delay and eventual disruption. This claim has become a key point of contention in an ongoing standoff, drawing attention from industry bodies and stakeholders involved in the production.
Following the dispute, FWICE issued a "non-cooperation directive." The federation, however, maintained that it was not a ban, describing it instead as a message rather than a ban on any individual, says B N Tiwari, president of FWICE. Tiwari said that Ranveer Singh reportedly did not respond to calls from FWICE, allegedly telling them that the matter did not “come under their jurisdiction.”
In an apparent attempt to mend fences, Ranveer Singh’s team reportedly offered a settlement. His team offered Excel Entertainment ₹10 crore upfront and a ₹25 crore discount on a future film to settle his sudden exit from Don 3. However, the producers rejected this and demanded straightforward cash compensation of ₹45 crore for pre-production losses. According to a source quoted by a news portal, Ranveer also reportedly expressed his interest in working on another project with filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, with whom he previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed Gully Boy.
According to reports, Salman encouraged the two to think in the larger interest of the film industry and find common ground. He also reportedly advised them to settle the matter privately, without involving any third party or industry body. However, it has now been confirmed that Khan has not stepped in to mediate.
