Game Changer: Affordable in Telangana, Premium Pricing in Andhra Pradesh
Movie buffs in Telangana can breathe a sigh of relief as the highly anticipated film Game Changer is set to release at pocket-friendly ticket prices. "The ticket price for Game Changer will range between Rs 100 for lower-class seats and Rs 175 for upper-class seats, making it affordable for all," says an exhibitor. This move comes after the Telangana government curbed excessive price hikes seen for blockbusters like RRR, Salaar, Kalki, and Pushpa 2, which ranged from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100.
Telangana, with its 400-odd theaters (300 of which are single screens), has also prohibited special and extra shows. "Families can now watch not just one but two movies this Sankranti without overspending," the exhibitor adds. "This will boost footfalls and collections while ensuring cinema remains accessible to everyone."
In contrast, Andhra Pradesh has opted for premium pricing and additional screenings. Special permissions have been granted for benefit shows starting at 1 am on January 10, with tickets priced at Rs 600. For the first 14 days, Game Changer tickets will cost Rs 352 in multiplexes and Rs 282.50 in single screens, including GST. From the 15th day onward, prices will drop to Rs 177 for multiplexes and Rs 147 for single screens.
With extended screenings and festival pricing, Andhra Pradesh provides an opportunity for Game Changer to rake in massive box office collections, while collections in Telangana might remain comparatively lower. "If the content resonates with audiences, box office records are inevitable," the exhibitor concludes.
