HanuMan producer losing his hard-earned money?
After minting gold with socio-fantasy ‘HanuMan’, producer K Niranjan Reddy who is also a distributor in the two Telugu states has been losing his hard-earned money. “He has lost a good chunk of his earnings from blockbuster ‘HanuMan’ and he has to play it safe from now,” says a distributor, who adds, His last production ‘Darling’ with Priyadarshi turned out to be a damp squib and he would have lost Rs 3 to 4 crores in the film,” he adds.
Later, he bought the distribution rights of ‘Double iSmart’, hoping that Ram Pothineni and Puri Jagannadh would recreate the magic of ‘Ismart Shankar’ but the director Puri Jagannadh disappointed him since the film turned out to be a disaster. “He could be losing Rs 10 to 12 crores if the film doesn’t pick up collections in the Telugu states,” he adds.
Niranjan Reddy is an NRI and also owns theatres in the Rayalaseema region. “He is a daring producer who backed director Prashanth Varma’s vision and made socio-fantasy ‘HanuMan’ with a Rs 40 crore budget, the highest for a new actor like Sajja Tejja but his guts paid off and his film made over Rs 200 crore all over and he was riding with success,” he concludes.
However, he is now planning to make a Hindi film on 'Lord Ram' and also registered a title 'Om Jai Shri Ram' and would be commencing the project once he finds the right director and team, he adds.
