Jenny Slate to surprise her audiences in Tom Hardy starrer Venom

The next film from the Marvel universe – Venom – is creating quite a stir in the audiences for the secrecy and excitement around it. Legendary actor Tom Hardy will be playing protagonist in this Sony Pictures’ film and starring alongside him are talented folks like Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze and Reid Scott. Jenny Slate, who will be seen playing a scientist with Riz Ahmed’s Life Foundation, will be playing antagonist against Venom. Having mostly portrayed the-girl-next-door or a comedian in her previous films, this is a character change for the actor!

Previously, she has been seen in films like The Secret Life of Pets, Gifted, Zootopia amongst many others. Director Rubin Fleisher, who was all praise for Jenny highlighted how she is challenging her own self with this character in Venom. Says Fleischer, “Jenny is playing a little against type in the film, because everybody pictures her as a comedian. But in this movie, she's actually playing a pretty dramatic role.”

When asked the producer Matt Tolmach about Jenny, he says, “Jenny takes risks in this film, both as herself and as her character. Her character teams with Eddie to expose Carlton Drake and do what’s right, with the cost of her own life on the line, and that takes guts.”

Venom releases on October 5th, 2018.
