Netflix has had to release an official statement for the fans of their latest web series Bird Box, asking them to not take part in the #BirdBoxChallenge, reports EOnline.com.
The series starring Sandra Bullock, sees her playing a mother who wears a blindfold to avoid seeing mysterious forces that push people to commit suicide, as she tries to save her children by leading them through dangerous terrain.
The post apocalyptic storyline found itself being turned into memes, which eventually led to the Bird Box Challenge, where people have been trying to
replicate real life situations with a blindfold on. The challenge has led to a few minor accidents too.
Netflix put out a warning on Twitter that read, “Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes (sic).”
