She said that the disease made her realise that it's the simple things in life that mean the most to her.

Speaking to E! News at a charity event, singer Avril Lavigne once again talked of her struggle with Lyme disease.
She said, “When you go through something like that... I haven’t even been able to come to one of these events. I’ve been tucked away and hibernating and healing and it’s very up and down.
Everything is brighter (after the struggle). When you go through an experience like that... I’ve always been a very grounded and grateful person but it changes a lot. Simple things in life is what mean the most really (now).
