Oscars 2016: The year that marked the end of Leonardo DiCaprio memes
It has been over two decades since Leonardo DiCaprio bagged his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor in 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape', and he's been waiting for his big moment ever since. Days before the Academy Awards, the one question that weighed on everybody's mind was- Will 2016 finally be the year that Leonardo DiCaprio takes home the Oscar for Best Actor?
While few fans in Russia's Far East, made a statue for Leonardo that bore close resemblance to the Oscar prize, others prepared heartfelt letters.
When 2015 Best Actress winner Julianne Moore announced "Leonardo DiCaprio" as the winner, everybody including his fellow nominees rejoiced and cheered for the actor. Even before he rose from his chair, the audience were up on their feet giving him the standing ovation he had been waiting for.
Clearly they are not alone in this feeling of total elation. The Internet was flooded with congratulatory messages and memes that fans had kept ready for this moment.
2016 will be the year that marked the end of Leonardo DiCaprio memes.
This video tops the list though.
