After watching her terrific performances in films like ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan,’, B-town diva Deepika Padukone’ fans would be slightly disappointed with her subdued role in her latest film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. “I don’t think so because her role was significant and the heart of the film,” says ace producer M S Raju known for blockbusters like ‘Okkadu’ and “Varsham’. “Even Deepika would be happy with her unique role and her subdued performance as the pregnant woman who is determined to save her infant against all odds,” he adds.
He claims that the makers of ‘Kalki’ didn’t want to cast Prabhas and Deepika as a pair and shoot a couple of songs after establishing a love track between them to cater to masses. “This is precisely what the makers avoided since they wanted to make a path-breaking film and didn’t want usual tropes of dances between Prabhas and Deepika and churn out a clichéd movie,” he points out. He claims that Deepika has already shown her acting and dancing skills in varied Bollywood movies and tried to do something different in her maiden Telugu film. “Kudos to her for taking up such an unusual role and she wanted to be part of a magnum opus which had a bigger vision and span," he adds.
Will she have much lengthy screen time in the second part, “We don’t know, lets keep our fingers crossed,’ he cuts short.
