Fresh twist to Sathankulam video
We had recently reported that RJ and singer Suchitra's video giving a detailed account in English of the custodial deaths of the Sathankulam father-son-duo, Jayaraj had attracted much attention all over India and abroad.
Now, she has reported that she has been offered a large sum of money to make another video on police atrocities during an earlier regime, when the current Opposition Party was in power.
The singer has alleged that she was approached for this by a powerful Kollywood celebrity.
Suchitra posted on her Twitter handle, “Been offered 2C to put up a video highlighting police atrocities in an earlier regime (when the opposition was in power) and lost sleep ever since. This is the lowest I’ve seen humanity dip. But not lower than the #sathankulam incident. Keep the focus #JusticeforJayarajAndFenix”
She added, “Sad part - it was a family friend (highly influential Kollywood celeb) who made this call to me. Smarten up guys, be even more determined not to give up now.”
MEANWHILE…
Top stars speak out
Many top celebs like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Vetri Maaran have appreciated Kovilpatti judicial Magistrate Bharathidasan, and woman police officer Revathi from the station where the reported brutalities took place, for their initiatives against the cops who are accused of being responsible for the custodial deaths, ignoring intimidation.
Rajinikanth posted a strong statement in Tamil with his picture on his Twitter handle, saying, “Even after the entire humankind condemned the brutal killing of the father and son, I was shocked to learn the manner in which certain policemen spoke and behaved right in front of the magistrate. Those involved should not be spared and punished severely.”
Kamal also hailed Magistrate Bharathidasan, who is striving to uphold justice, and the Madurai High Court and head constable Revathi for her honest statement as a witness.
Vetri tagged all the above mentioned and said, “You have given us hope and we stand by you."
