Among the films that released this year so far, Maanagaram can easily be handpicked as one of the best movies of 2017. Directed by debutant Lokesh Kanagaraj, this movie had Sundeep Kishan, Sree and Regina Cassandra in the lead roles.
The film had a dream run at the box-office and soon after the release, Lokesh was roped in by producer SR Prabhu for a film in his banner. The scripting process has been going on for months now. According to the latest development, actor Karthi will most likely play the lead role in this venture. A source close to the team reveals, “Lokesh is penning an intense action flick with Karthi in his mind. He has been in touch with the Kaatru Veliyidai actor for a while, but is yet to narrate the script. Since SR Prabhu shares a great rapport with Karthi, the project will most likely be finalised in a couple of months.”
An official confirmation on the same is expected to be announced once the agreement is signed. Karthi is gearing up for the release of director Vinoth’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru which is based on a real-life incident. He will be joining director Pandiraj for a rural drama which is touted to be his next flick. The actor has also committed to a project with debutant director Rajath. Actress Rakul Preet Singh who has paired up with Karthi in Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru will be teaming up with him once again in this untitled film.
