Tharshan counters Sanam’s charge
On Friday, actress Sanam Shetty fileda police complaint against her beau Tharshan, who came into the limelight post his stint in Big Boss 3, the reality show hosted by Kamal Haasan. Sanam accused him of cheating, breach of trust and harassment. She said Tharshan had promised to marry her (furnishing proof for their engagement) but was now refusing to do so.
Tharshan hurriedly convened a press conference to explain his side of the story. He recounted how he had come to Chennai with dreams of making it big in films, how he had met and been befriended by Sanam, who had suggested that he take a role in a movie in which she was co-producer, how they were in love and got engaged, but how he had announced that they were only friends so that Sanam would have a chance to get into the Big Boss show in which he was participating, and how their relationship had deteriorated while in the BB house.
Tharshan alleged that Sanam had met the producers of three films which he had signed (after BB) and asked them not to take him in their films. “She was also forcing me to announce our engagement and get married to her in two months’ time. She even threatened that she would commit suicide. That’s when I decided to break up our relationship”, he said.
The actor, who is from Sri Lanka, added that he had returned the Rs 3 lakhs which Sanam had paid towards his visa after he earned money through Bigg Boss. “It is Sanam who is harassing me mentally and physically”, he said and denied the actress’ allegation that he had sexually harassed her.
However, Tharshan concluded by saying that because he was grateful to Sanam for her help in the past, he would not go to court against her, but would explain his side of the matter if asked to do so in connection with her complaint
