Sundar C to direct a historical flick
Sundar C, known as the ‘minimum guarantee’ filmmaker in K’town, will be wielding the megaphone for a period flick, for the first time. The movie will be on the lines of Magadheera and Baahubali. Further, the film is going to be made at a mammoth budget of more than Rs 250 crores. Sri Thenanadal Films is bankrolling the project — this is also the 100th movie by the production house. Murali Ramanarayanan of Thenandal spills the beans about the cast and technicians of the multilingual.
Speaking to DC, he says, “We have almost locked in on the accredited technicians for the movie. While talks are on with cinematographer Tirru, Sabu Cyril for production design, and Kamala Kannan, who did VFX for Baahubali, we are yet to decide on the music composer,” Murali says.
Our close sources also inform that a project with a mammoth scale as this will have either maestro Ilayaraja or Isai Puyal AR Rahman. When we informed him of having heard that he is looking for a top hero from the south, since the film will be in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi — with the names of Suriya and Mahesh Babu mentioned, Murali was in a no hurry to reply. Instead, he said, “We haven’t come any closer to deciding on the actors. But yes, as you said we are looking at someone who has big business in Telugu and Tamil. And a top Bollywood heroine will come on board as the female protagonist.” Sundar C is presently awaiting his acting venture Muthuna Kathirika scheduled for release on June 17.
