National award-winning actor Thambi Ramaiah has returned to direction after a long break. His upcoming film, Maniyaar Kudumbam, features his son Umapathy and actress Mridhula playing the lead pair. Besides wielding the megaphone and producing the film, Ramaiah will also be seen playing Umapathy's father on screen.
“I haven’t signed any new films in the past eight months as I’ve been completely occupied with MK. Had my son not been qualified in all aspects of acting, I would not have ventured into it. But I admit that I’m producing the film only for his sake,” Ramaiah says.
Delving into details regarding the film, he says, “It’s the story of a good-for-nothing dad and his wastrel son and how their lives change for the better when a girl enters.”
The film’s supporting cast features Pawan, Samudhrakani, Jayaprakash and Sriranjani.
