Rahul Ravindran goes behind the camera
Rahul Ravindran, who is known for his roles in the film Moscowin Kaveri and Vanakkam Chennai, is now turning director for a yet-untitled Telugu film. In a chat with DC, the actor-turned-director talks about his debut directorial.
“I was actually planning to make the movie sometime in next year, but everything fell in place now. So, we have started the pre-production, and the film is at its nascent stage as of now,” he says.
The film will have Sushanth, nephew of Nagarjuna, in the lead role. Rahul feels that a newcomer would be a better option to go with for the female lead.
When asked if he had always wanted to direct a film, he asserts, “I came to Chennai not to become an actor, but with a desire to join as an assistant to a director. But eventually, I got an offer to be the lead of a movie, and I got suggestions that acting will earn me more money and knowledge about filmmaking as well. So, I ended up being an actor.”
He also quickly adds, “I will still be acting in films; that’s something I can’t give up. But, I am unsure whether I will be acting in my own directorial ventures.”
