VZ Dhorai joins hands with STR once again
There were 20 cuts from Regional Censors in VZ Dhorai directed horror flick Iruttu, which features Sundar C in the lead. “I had tough time with the RCB. They gave 'A' Certification for the film, but I didn't agree to it. I had to argue and justify my stance that a 'scary movie has to have such daunting scenes to move forward the narrative' and told them to reconsider and finally after several cuts, we got U/A,” says the director, although he admits that the continuity is not lost, but the fear factor impact is reduced.
Talking about the specialty of the film he says, “Unlike in other ghost/horror movies where some sort of tantrik/exorcist to expel the spirits from a person, it is for the first time in Iruttu, the supernatural power is exorcised by a cop.”
Dhorai is teaming up with Simbu once again after their earlier hit Thotti Jaya (TJ). The movie is likely to start once Simbu returns from his Sabaraimala completing his spiritual austerity. But refused to disclose if it is a sequel to TJ. He has also announced his next with filmmaker/actor Ameer titled Naarkaali (Chair), which reportedly is a political satire.
