Screenplay is the highlight of Yeidhavan: Kalaiyarasan
Kalaiyarasan, after putting in a commendable performance in Adhe Kangal, is now ready with another film titled Yeidhavan, which is currently in its post-production phase. Touted to be a commercial entertainer, the film has Satna Titus of Pichaikkaran fame in the lead role. Talking to DC, the film’s director Shakthi Rajasekaran shares his experience working with the lead actors, the music director Paartav Barggo and more.
A social issue is at the centre of Yeidhavan, begins the director. “The film will take on the problems with our educational system. Kalaiyarasan appears as a Chennaite belonging to a middle-class family. He gets into trouble regarding something to do with our educational system. How he resolves the issue, is what the film is about,” he says.
On Satna Titus, the lead actress of the film, he says, “Unlike usual roles heroines get in commercial cinema, Satna plays a police sub-inspector, whose role has a lot to do with the script. She helps the hero in an important way. Her role is instrumental for the film.”
Vela Ramamoorthy, who is known for his negative roles, is donning the role of a doting father in the film — “He is Kalaiyarasan’s father in the film, and he is doing a positive character, unlike his previous roles.”
The highlight of the film is its screenplay, opines Rajasekaran — “There are about ten important characters in the film, and each act selfishly to save themselves — which puts the hero in trouble! The film also has two villains played by Gautham and Krishna. Gautham is the one who dubbed for Prabhas in Baahubali’s Tamil version, and after a long break I have brought back Krishna, who has acted in Tamil films like Poova Thalaiya (2011).”
Partav Barggo, brother of singer Anuradha Sriram, is composing the music for the film. He is one of the five music directors who composed for Vasanth’s Yai Nee Romba Alaga Irukke.
