Actress Lalitha Kumari, ex-wife of ace Prakash Raj, turns producer with mega soap Thari (Weave) which depicts the pitiable state of weavers in Kanchipuram and how they are relegated to a precarious life. The story is narrated through a girl essayed by Srinidhi belonging to a weaver's family who were once at their peak and now going through a painful phase.
Talking to DC, Lalitha says, “We did extensive research before commencing the project. We went to Kachipuram and stayed there for few weeks to get to know of their routine work of weaving traditional pattu sarees.
We interviewed many families as well. We have captured the real situation of weaving community and I hope the serial would give the necessary attention to the dying art of weaving.” Shaktivel directs the serial being aired on Colors television.
