Aara, who has acted in films like Jeeva and Poojai, is making her debut as a lead with Paisa directed by Majith of Thamizhan fame. “The film is set against the backdrop of a slum. Pasanga fame Sree Raam is playing the male lead and I play a girl who works in a supermarket. Paisa will be on the lines of Goli Soda and Kaaka Muttai, which revolve around the lives of the underprivileged,” she says and adds, “We are done with the shoot and the team is planning to release the film by May 20.”
Aara tells us that she wants to be a part of good films, which gives scope for her to perform. Though the industry is highly competitive, she wants to create a distinct identity. “I want to be remembered for roles for which people sit up and take notice. I would like to see myself in a role or a film, something like what yesteryear actresses like Radhika, Revathi and Bhanu Priya did. It is such a pleasure to watch them on screen,” she adds.
The film, which was shot in and around slums of the city, deals with how a person will lose happiness if his or her only goal is making money. Nasser and Mayilsamy will be seen in pivotal roles.
