Anirudh ropes in trans women for Darbar song

After Petta, where he used raw talents from Odisha, he has made a new attempt for Darbar.

Three trans women - Chandramukhi, Rachana Mudraboina and Priya from a band called Spice Girls from Hyderabad - have been brought on board to sing a song in Rajinikanth's Darbar. Composer Anirudh Ravichander is known for trying out something different when it comes to his music. After Petta, where he used raw talents from Odisha, he has made a new attempt for Darbar.

Darbar features a dance by the transgender community and though the original plan was to bring renowned singers, sources say Anirudh decided to make it sound authentic and hence roped in the trans women, who are reportedly trained classical singers. And yes, they also gave voice audition and rehearsals before recording the songs at a city studio. The audio launch of Darbar will take place on December 7 at a gala event.

Darbar directed by AR Murugadoss also features transgender woman Jeeva (who acted in Vijay Sethupathi's hit film Dharma Durai) in a crucial role.
