Abishek George, who made a mark with the roles in some quality movies like Demonte Colony, and Adhe Kangal, is gearing up for another Tamil film titled Velai Neram, directed by Siddharth Babu. In spite of getting offers in many films, Abishek says he is choosy when it comes to selecting a script.
“I would like to act in the film if the role is very interesting and has a lot of scope. So far, all my major projects have been like that. And I am very lucky in that front,” he begins.
“After Demonte Colony, I got about four to five roles, but they were similar to the one I did in the film. So, I waited for about seven to eight months for a good script. Mean while, I was doing plays,” he adds.
When asked about his upcoming Tamil feature Velai Neram, he says, “I can’t reveal more about the film, but it is an interesting role. I come as school kid, who is in class 12.”
The theatre artiste-turned actor was recently seen in the web series of Balaji Mohan , As I am Suffering From Kadhal, and he is currently working in a short film in Malayalam titled Poppy, directed by Sudharshan Narayanan — “It is great project which also has Leela Samson madam, the popular Bharatnatyam exponent and the daughter of renowned Malayalam actor Indrajith, as part of its cast,” he reveals.
The actor feels having theatre background is a good thing for a film actor. “I won’t say it is a must. But it is always an advantage to have a theatre experience for the actors,” he muses.
Other than his acting career, Abishek also works as hospital clown to entertain children who are undergoing treatment there, and does corporate shows as well.
Abhishek, a polyglot, who knows Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi and English, says, “I want to be a ‘pan Indian’ actor — I would want to act in all the three industries and be know for it.”
