Tollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh is donning a meaty role in the much-hyped Tamil film ‘Indian 2’ and donning a role with substance. She is paired opposite talented actor Siddharth in this message-centric action film. “Rakul is portraying a challenging and interesting role,” says a source and adds, “She is a doing lengthy character and going to showcase her histrionic skills,” he adds.
It is learned that Siddharth will play the grandson of the freedom fighter-turned-vigilante, Senapathi, who sets out on a mission to eradicate corruption in society by killing corrupt government officials in the 1996 origin. Director Shankar has reportedly etched an interesting avatar for Rakul Preet Singh along with Kamal Haasan, Kajal Agarwal, and other lead actors.
She has ruled the roost in Tollywood with big-ticket movies like ‘Venkatadri Express,’, ‘Dhruva’ and ‘Sarrainodu’ and others. “Her realistic performance in ‘Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam’ and ‘Jaya Jaya Nayaka’ fetched her laurels as she breathed life into those performance-oriented roles while her village belle role in Konda Polam was another feather to her steaming cap,” he points out.
First, she was sought-after for glam roles and later she was getting meaty roles so she could carve a niche for herself in Telugu films. “She will be returning to Tollywood with perfect film since she is not in a hurry,” he concludes.
