Vincent Selva returns with violent revenge drama
Vincent Selva, who has worked with the likes of Vijay and was on a short hiatus, is back with a bang with a revenge saga. The movie is interestingly titled Patthu Second Muttham as it was inspired by noted writer Sujatha’s novel of the same name.
“The similarity ends with the name. The film has an original script and is female centric. A girl meets a boy and in those ten seconds something gets triggered. How the girl goes in search of her target after taking a violent way forms the rest,” Vincent reveals.
It is a bilingual thriller in Tamil and Telugu with the theme “Violent behaviour provokes more violent behaviour.”
“I needed someone fresh without any image trap. Hence I chose mostly new faces except Thambi Ramaiah in Tamil and Posani Muralikrishna in Telugu for a crucial character. While debutant Geetha essays the lead heroine, Sarish will be seen as the male lead. The filmmaker thanked RB Choudary for suggesting he make the film in Telugu as well. “After hearing the script, Choudary sir was very impressed and he was the one who advised me to go for a Tollywood version as the story would go down well with the T’town audiences.”
We hear the movie has a never seen before arresting climax. “Yes, PSM has a heartrending climax, which will leave lump in your throat,” the Priyamudan director asserts. Another novelty is PSM has no songs. “Except for a Bharathiar song, which comes in the backdrop, there are no songs in the film. But for a thriller like this RR is very significant. I handpicked tracks from international collections.”
