Kadaikutty Singam hails farmers
Director Pandiraj who comes from a family of farmers asserts that agriculturists have high self-esteem and are proud of their profession. Talking about his film Kadaikutty Singam which is about farmers, he said, “Like how people proudly use their educational qualifications like engineer, doctor before or after their names, they should also come forward to use his/her farmer profession . That’s exactly what the film is trying to impart. I have taken a lead out of several incidents and people from my family.”
The Pasanga director has received a clean ‘U’ from Censor Board and it is his eighth directorial venture awarded a ‘U’. “I want my films to be watched by kids as a well as women. Basically, my focus will be family audiences and hence, I won’t opt for too much of violence, sleaze or even double entendres. KKS is no different. My film hails the farmers.”
He also reveals that though he sympathised with TN farmers during their protest for their rights at Jantar Mantar, he was not for the methods they chose. “Farmers normally hold high self-respect. I told the protesters then not to appear in scanty clothes and give threats like eating their own excreta just to draw attention, which is not the true self of farmers.”
