Vishwaroopam 2 to release with tribute to Karunanidhi
There was speculation that the release of actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam 2, slated to hit the silver screens today (August 10), would be postponed owing to the fact that the state is in mourning until August 13 on account of DMK chief and former CM Kalaignar Karunanidhi's death.
The makers have confirmed that the film will release as scheduled in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Sources reveal that Kamal Haasan plans to include a special tribute to Karuna before the film. The running time of the spy thriller is roughly 141 minutes.
Made on a mammoth budget with technology on par with international standards, the movie carries a U/A Certificate from the censor board. Apparently, the board ordered 22 cuts and mutes, including cuss words, bathroom and bedroom shots, violent scenes and religious references, before certification. The list of deleted scenes and phrases has been doing the rounds on social media.
Vishwaroopam 2, produced in association with V. Ravichandran's Aascar Films, is believed to have done Rs 110 crore pre-release business through the sale of theatrical and satellite rights. The film features Rahul Bose, Pooja Kumar, Andrea, Shekhar Kapoor, and Waheeda Rahman, and the music has been composed by Ghibran.
