Shakeela film fest runs to full houses

When the entire Tamil film industry is on strike and there have been no new film releases from March 1, here is a theatre in Kovai which is quickly cashing in on the situation.

The Shanmuga Theatre in Kovai has been celebrating a weeklong screening of soft-porn star Shakeela’s old hit films in Malayalam that have been dubbed in Tamil. And many of the movies are running to a full house.

There are four shows every day and the walls around the theatre are plastered with posters of Shakeela who was once considered a threat to superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty. The films doing well are her X rated movies like Rasa Nila, Driving School and Ilaimai Idho Idho. The Shakeela film fest which began on April6 is slated to end on April 12.
