My way of giving back to the people of TN'
Cricketing legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his wife Sakshi were recently in Chennai to launch the soundtrack of LGM - Let’s Get Married, the inaugural project of their production house Dhoni Entertainment. Explaining his choice of a Tamil film as the first project, Dhoni, known as ‘Thala’ to his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans, said, “I am a strong believer in destiny. I feel destiny has led us here. Chennai has been the backdrop of many significant events in my life – my Test debut, my highest Test score, and of course, the start of my journey with IPL’s CSK. When Sakshi proposed the idea, I immediately agreed.
The unconditional love and support I have received from the people of Tamil Nadu, through thick and thin, has fostered a deep bond. This film is my way of reciprocating their love and support.” Talking about the film, he said, “LGM is a clean family entertainer. My daughter, who is eight-and- a-half, could watch it. She might have some questions, but it’s suitable for her.” He added, “As far as the project is concerned, my involvement was limited due to my IPL commitments. However, I insisted on two things: honouring commitments and providing good food to the team.” “My wife Sakshi knows a few Tamil expletives. However, I didn’t teach her any of them because I don’t know any. I do, however, know a few in other languages,” Dhoni joked, entertaining the crowd in his typical light-hearted manner. The film, directed by Ramesh Tamilmani, who also scores the music, stars Harish Kalyan and Ivana, with Nadhiya and Yogi Babu playing pivotal characters
‘DEEPAK CHAHAR IS LIKE WINE’
CSK’s all-rounder Deepak Chahar was a surprise visitor at the event. And Dhoni didn’t miss the chance to take a smiling dig at him: “Deepak Chahar is like a drug: if he is not there, you will think, Where is he? If he is around, you will think, Why is he here? The good part is that he is maturing. Wine gets better with age. He is like wine, and will take time to mature and that is the problem. In my lifetime, I won’t see him mature.
