Edappadi K Palaniswami kickstarts shooting of biopic on MGR
Chennai: M.G.R., the biopic of legendary actor turned politician M.G. Ramachandran, went on floors with Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami making the first clap from clapboard on Friday. Directed by Balakrishnan, Satishkumar plays the titular role. Minister for information and publicity Kadambur Raju, minister for Tamil official language and Tamil culture K. Pandiarajan and Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan were present at the function in MGR film city here.
Balakrishnan had earlier directed Kamaraj film on former TN chief minister. Director Stanley will reprise late CM Annadurai, as he has the uncanny resemblance to the latter. Singam Puli, Black Pandi, Deenadayalan and Muthuraman comprise supporting cast among others. It needs to be seen as who would play the two main characters - MGR's wife and late CM V.N. Janaki and his popular co-star late CM J. Jayalalithaa.
“We are auditioning many and will go in for those who have close resemblance to them”, Balakrishnan told Deccan Chronicle. It is a known secret that all the areas of MGR movies would be sold out even on the day of its muhurat and this film, M.G.R., is no different! Producer Suresh from Anandha Pictures commenced it and bought the distribution rights for a single theatre. Balakrishnan also announced that the teaser of the film would be released on January 17 (MGR's birth anniversary).
