Kiran Arya's the new villain on the block

Even before OKK's release, Kiran became a known face through his mega soap Nandhini.

Kiran Arya, who hogged the limelight playing a role with negative shades in the recent blockbuster Oru Kuppai Kathai, has bagged a biggie now. The young actor who had his tutelage under noted Balu Mahendra and his Koothu-P-Pattari is the villain in Hiphop Aadhi’s upcoming movie that is bankrolled by Sundar C’s home banner.

Despite hailing from a Kannada film family - his uncle Madhesh is a well-known filmmaker - Kiran says he was very keen to make his entry in Tamil cinema. “I came to Chennai with the dream of making it big in K’town. After completing my acting course, I did the film Thagadu as a hero. However, it was Oru Kuppai Kathai, which has given me a big break now. Thanks to director Kaali Rangaswamy who saw me at Balu Mahendra Acting School and chose me for the solid character in OKK.”

Even before OKK’s release, Kiran became a known face through his mega soap Nandhini. “Even as I was working in OKK, I got this serial offer from director Raj Kapoor sir, which was produced by Sundar C. Initially, I was apprehensive to work in the small screen. Having accepted and completed several hundred episodes, I feel I made the right decision. Nandhini has given me a recognition.”

On the new film with Aadhi, he quips, “I am happy playing any kind of roles, so long it is substantial.” Kiran is also part of two more films under production.
