Rajini, Akshay Kumar magnum opus 2.0 gets release date at last
Having missed its release date on several occasions, the most anticipated sci-fi thriller 2.0 featuring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson finally gets a release date. Director Shankar has announced that the movie will hit the marquees on November 29.
Rumours were rife that the project had been put on hold and may be released only in 2019 because of excessive VFX work. The current announcement puts an end to all wild speculation about the fate of the sequel to Shankar’s 2010 release Enthiran.
Shankar took to his twitter handle to make the announcement official on the film’s release date. “Hi everyone.. At last the VFX companies promised the final delivery date of the VFX shots. The movie will release on Nov 29th 2018. #2Point0.” Apparently AKKI also shared the tweet of Lyca Productions saying, “Get ready for the ultimate clash, #2Point0 on 29th November, 2018.
The movie will have been completed at a whopping '450 crores and will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Rajinikanth’s 2.0 went on floors in 2016 and was supposed to be released last Deepavali. It was then postponed to January 2018. However, with heavy VFX works, the film had to face constant delays.
AR Rahman’s music is said to be one of the high points of the movie. One may recall the audio of the flick was launched with much fanfare in Dubai with Rajini and Akshay gracing the occasion. Ace Nirav Shah is behind the camera.
Meanwhile, the Superstar who has plunged into active politics had a film release in Kaala last month and also moved on to his next with Karthik Subbaraj with whom he has even completed a long shooting schedule in Darjeeling.
