Samuthirakani, Thambi Ramaiah didn’t take salary for Saatai

Adutha Saattai has relevant messages to society. I have grown eating food in Thilakavathy amma’s house: Samuthirakani.

I and Thambi Ramaiah sir did not take any remuneration for working in Saattai, a film which dealt with bringing in reforms in government schools. Similarly, the sequel Adutha Saatai deals with college life, students’ parliament, their predicaments etc. I just did my job without expecting anything in returns as it has a social message,” remarked actor and filmmaker Samuthirakani at the audio launch of AS directed by Anbhazhagan. Prabhu Thilak, son of former police officer Thilakavathy IPS, bankrolls the movie.

“I had an excellent role in Saatai, which was also directed by Anbazhgan. It was a game changer in my cinema career. National award winner Thambi Ramaiah is an emotional person. He cried while people were applauding his work in Saattai. If Ramaiah sir calls me, I would go and stand in front of him despite my work.”

Kani adds, “Adutha Saattai has relevant messages to society. I have grown eating food in Thilakavathy amma’s house. We all have done our work without considering monetary aspects and leaving the rest to audiences. I am sure they will lap up the film. This is one way of giving back to the industry which has given me so much today.” While Athulya Ravi and Yuvan play the leads, Justin Prabhakaran composes the music.

Several educationists and teachers, who have achieved including Bhagawan, the Thruvalluvar district government schoolteacher whose transfer had the students protesting, also graced the occasion.
