Shruti's role came to Adah!
Tamilian beauty Adah Sharma, who began her career in Bollywood, is now a star in Tollywood after the success of her latest, Kshanam, that is making a massive impact across the country. But next, she’s all set to finally step into home territory with a guest appearance in Idhu Namma Aalu — her first film in her mother tongue, Tamil! Adah is naturally looking forward to it. “I am from Tamil Nadu, and it’s my first film in the language I grew up speaking. It’s a dance number with Simbu as well, so I am very excited,”she smiles.
With unusual candour, she also reveals that her song in the film was first offered to Shruti Haasan! “It was always meant to be a special appearance — a song-and-dance, with a few scenes. When it eventually came my way, I said yes without a second thought. I love dancing,” smiles the 26-year old, who hopes that this would lead to a full-fledged role in Kollywood soon.
Adah, who began her career with Vikram Bhatt’s 1920 in 2008, says she owes her career to the Telugu film industry — “After making my debut in Hindi, I thought I’d do a Tamil film since Tamil is my mother tongue. Instead, Puri Jagannadh offered me my first Telugu film Heart Attack.” Soon, Adah became a sought-after heroine in Tollywood; she had two successive releases in February! “My first was called Masala, which was like a hardcore single-theatre film. Then came Kshanam, a commercial yet out-of-the-box movie. It is so different from anything in cinema before,” Adah concludes.
