Exclusive cafe for Rajini in Kovai, as Kabali all set to hit screens
COIMBATORE: Superstar Rajinikanth’s fans have ordered hundreds of T-shirts with pictures of Kabali from the Tirupur garment units. The Rajinikanth fans’ trademark dhotis with blue, white and red borders have arrived in the shops. More interestingly, an eatery, Kollywood Cafe, exclusively dedicated to superstar Rajnikanth has come up in Coimbatore’s busy R.S.Puram area. The superstar smiles on the walls of the “Kollywood Cafe”. His punch lines resonate on the walls and on the dining tables lay sheets of paper with biographical details and crossword puzzles on the Superstar. And you could even take a selfie with six feet Kabali picture at the cafe.
Special poojas have also been scheduled in most temples in Coimbatore on July 22. For it’s “Rajini mela” after a gap of two years as the “Thalaivar’s much-awaited film, Kabali is set to hit the screens on July 22. With two Rajini movies flopping in a row, the superstar’s fans are going all out to ensure the box-office success of Kabali. Rajini fans have also decided on a dress code for watching the first show of the movie.
“Our fan club members will also hold a fan club flag and wear a white ‘veshti’ with borders in blue, white and red similar to that of the flag. It will be our dress code on the day of the ‘thalaivar’s film release,” said Rajini M Anandan, an auto driver and an ardent fan of Rajini. He is also the president of Rajini Fans Club Association, Chettipalayam. The fan clubs are also preparing to erect huge size banners in front of all theatres that release the movie in Coimbatore.
“As usual milk ‘abishekams’ will be performed and sweets distributed to public. Special prayers and pooja will be done in temples for the success of the movie,” added Rajini M Anandan.
In a unique concept, a cafe in RS Puram area, ‘Kollywood Café’ opened last month, dedicated to ‘Rajini’ with stills of the superstar drawn on the walls. “There are around ten such drawings of actor Rajini like how he was portrayed in different films. Valuable messages delivered by superstar during his informal talk during various events have also been written on the walls,” said ‘Perur’ Hariharan Suresh, proprietor of ‘Kollywood Café’ and a diehard fan of Rajini.
On the tables, there are sheets that deliver interesting facts about Rajini. “While waiting for the food to be served, the customers can play cross word puzzle pertaining to superstar. Those who solve the puzzle get gifts,” said Hariharan. The cafe also has a selfie point, where the public can take ‘selfie’ by standing near a six feet high Kabali still of Rajini. “As the customers like this ambience, we will dedicate the walls to some other actor after a certain period of time,” he added.
