Lady Luck is worth the wait!
Varma, a product of popular acting school Raging Bulls Actors Studio, hitherto seen in small roles, has been noticed in recent flicks like Hero, Pancharaksharam and Karuppudurai. He has finally bagged a solo hero film.
Speaking to DC, Varma, an engineering graduate, says, “I am passionate about acting in films and hence quit my lucrative banking job. Of course, I trained myself in all aspects of acting before embarking on my journey. I got anopportunity in films like Irumbu Thirai and Ulta, and though they were small, I didn’t let them go.”
It was Karthi’s Theeran which gave him a lot of exposure, says Varma. “I shot for more than a month in North India and it was a mind-blowing experience. Tamizh Padam 2, Kaali, where I played Vijay Antony’s friend and Thadam were also a learning curve for me.”
After six years of struggle, luck finally seems to have favoured the youngster. “The untitled film under Deena Dayalan’s direction is an action thriller. I essay the protagonist — a socially conscious business guy whose nature lands him inbig trouble. Tamini Dev from Mumbai plays my pair. We shot close to 40 days in interior forests near Thada”, adds Varma.
