Kaalakkoothu projects Madurai in different light
It is not without a reason that Madurai is called ‘a city that never sleeps’ and its darker side gets invariably portrayed in Tamil films. But here is a debutant in Nagaraj who projects the city at its colourful and sprightly best.
Speaking to DC, the self-taught Nagaraj says, “I haven’t worked under anyone. I learnt by watching many movies, making videos and reading a lot about filmmaking. Right from my childhood, I am passionate about films. And having born and brought up in Madurai, the city was my first choice for my backdrop.”
On the story he says, “It’s a drama which portrays the relationships in a realistic manner. Time plays a crucial role in everybody’s life. And here, it is a play of emotions among two couples Dhanshika and Kalaiyarasan and Prasanna and Srushti Dange, their friendship and romance and their day-to-day life. Anyone can connect with the film. It has all ingredients that will interest the audiences. It is shot in vantage locations like Meenkashi Amman Temple and Madurai will be seen in a vibrant mode.”
Nagaraj reveals that Dhanshika will be acting in a never-seen before role. “In contrast to her earlier characters where she used to be serious, here she plays a college girl and very bubbly and lively.” Justin Prabhakaran has composed the music and PV Sankar is behind the camera.
