Yet another film about a missing ship

Happening star Nivin Pauly has been roped in to essay the protagonist.

Close on the heels of Rana Daggubati’s Ghazi, which was based on the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi, a Pakistani submarine, during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, a Malayalam project called Kairali has been announced. The film will talk about the unresolved mystery behind MV Kairali, Kerala’s first ship that disappeared in 1979 near India with a crew of 49 people onboard. Happening star Nivin Pauly has been roped in to essay the protagonist.

Renowned cinematographer Jomon T John, who is currently busy with Rohit Shetty's film Golmaal 4, will be wielding the megaphone for the first time with Kairali. Jomon has previously worked with Nivin Pauly in Thattathin Marayathu, Oru Vadakkan Selfie and Jacobinte Swargarajyam.

National award-winning director, Siddartha Siva will write the screenplay for the film, that will be jointly produced by Nivin’s Pauly Jr Pictures and Real Life Works.

The movie that goes on floors by the end of the year will be shot extensively in Kerala, Goa and Delhi, besides other countries including Djibouti, Kuwait and Germany. Inside sources say since the subject is of national importance and Nivin is also a known face in K’town, the makers have plans to release in other regional languages too.
