I am proud to be called a south Indian star: Raai Laxmi
Post Sowkarpettai, Raai Laxmi has not signed any films in Tamil except for the remake of the Malayalam thriller 100 Degree Celsius. The actress claims that she has turned all her focus towards her first full-fledged Bollywood film, Julie 2.
“I am unable to sign more films in Tamil because I have been investing a lot of my time on Julie 2, and it has come out really well. We are currently on the last leg of the shoot,” she asserts.
About 100 Degree Celsius? “I liked the Malayalam version, so I readily accepted to play a role in the film. My role is that of a radio jockey, and the story revolves around the five lead female characters. It is going to be a brilliant thriller,” she affirms.
Talking about being branded as a ‘south Indian star’ in B-town, she says, “They do perceive me as that, but I am very proud of being called so. I find it to be an honour!”
She adds, “Kolly, Molly and Bolly are the variations we have made. I don’t see any difference. I consider myself as an Indian actor.”
However, the actress does feel at home in K-town — “Of all the industries I have worked in, I feel comfortable in Kollywood because this is where I began my career as an actor. So, it is natural that I have some special affinity towards this industry.”
Laxmi will also shake a leg with Tollywood megastar Chiranjeevi for his much-anticipated comeback film Khaidi No 150.
