Atif Ali makes his debut in Tamil
Atif Ali, the Pakistani musician, who is known for his Bollywood renditions and also for being the music composer of Julie 2, is making his Tamil debut as singer with the film Sei. Starring Nakul, the music album of the film has been composed by NyX Lopez. Talking to DC, the composer shares about choosing Atif for the song.
“I’ve known Atif even while I was making independent albums. So, when it came to composing a sufi song, there was no other choice than him because he has a very soulful voice,” Lopez says.
“The song has come out very well. It is supposed to be the first sufi song of Tamil. Though AR Rahman sir has done sufi songs in Hindi, nothing has been made in Tamil,” The composer adds. The song has been penned by Yugabharathi, and will be out by November 24.
In addition, many other lead singers of the country have sung for the album. It also brings the successful combo of Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam to Tamil for the first time. “A folk number has been crooned by Shankar Mahadevan sir, and we are expecting it to be the next Naaka Mukka for Nakul. Benny Dayal has sung a full-fledged rap number,” Lopez beams.
Sei, directed by Raj Babu, also stars Nasser, Prakash Raaj in the lead roles. The teaser of the film was released recently and acquired commendable reception.
