Thozhar is about fight for mishap compensation
Ace Susienthiran’s co-director Maha Shivan turns independent with a movie titled Thozhar Venkatesan, which deals with the predicament of people in getting compensation from insurance companies when they meet with accidents in government buses. “The movie set in Kanchipuram is based on the real life experience of my friend and a few others who have been disabled due to accidents,” the director says.
The lead pair is played by debutant Harishankar and Monica Chinnakotla from Tollywood. We ask why the suggestive left leaning title and he explains, “No, the hero is not a communist, but the film speaks communism”. The film is about a middle class guy running a soda factory who loses his hands due in an accident caused by a government bus. How his life turns topsy-turvy after the incident and how he struggled to get compensation forms the rest. The movie which exposes the inefficiency and negligence in the government transport department is expected to create ripples.
Impressed with the film, the director’s mentor Susienthiran will be releasing the film in his home banner Kala Films.
