A fearless dreamer
Interacting with Shivani Joshi, you would be instantly be struck by her fearless decision-making and aspirations. In spite of opening an architectural firm and undertaking several important projects, owing to her obsession with the glam industry, she decided to move from Ahmedabad to Mumbai to pursue her passion in modelling.
Apart from sizzling in her modelling projects and dance shows, Shivani, who shuttles between Mumbai and Chennai, wants to make it big in movies and also wishes to start a fashion brand. She speaks to DC about her current projects, love for Kollywood and dream to dance alongside Vijay!
“Though I always had a fascination towards acting and modelling, having been brought up in a family, where my parents were doctors, I was initially sceptical,” starts Shivani. Speaking about her previous career as an architect, she says, “I studied in one of the best architectural colleges in India and won a gold medal from Gujarat. This gave me the confidence to start my own firm.” She adds, “Architecture was my calling then, but now I am convinced otherwise!”
After being conferred titles like ‘Timeless Beauty’ and ‘Eyeconic Eyes’ at beauty pageants, there was no looking back for Shivani. “Being multifaceted is my strength. I love theatre, modelling and dancing equally and I can seamlessly balance all three! Talks are also on for two Bollywood movies. I have followed Kollywood since I was a teenager and used to listen to Tamil songs and follow heroes like Vijay and Suriya arduously. It’s my dream to shake a leg with Ilayathalapathy!” she grins.
Shivani is in love with the city and its culture. “I like everything about Chennai — it is my home away from home.” About her long-term plans, she says — “In five years time, I would want to be known as a self-made actress who does much more than running around trees! Apart from this, I would like to explore functional art, which is still in its nascent stages in our country. I would also like to start a fashion brand in the near future,” she says to sign off.
