The duo has also announced that they plan to make a sequel to Vada Chennai soon after completing the yet-untitled adaptation.

Vetri Maaran is no stranger to the adaptation of books and novels into films. His award-winning film Visaaranai was based on the novel Lock Up by M. Chandrakumar.

Now, soon after the promising release of his gangster film Vada Chennai (VC), the filmmaker is all set to team up with his favourite hero Dhanush once again to make an adaptation of Poomani’s acclaimed political novel Vekkai. The duo has also announced that they plan to make a sequel to Vada Chennai soon after completing the yet-untitled adaptation.

Meanwhile, Dhanush’s archrival Simbu, who was supposed to play the lead role in VC, has sent him and Vetri a congratulatory message at the success of the film. The actor who’s basking in the glory of his own gangster movie, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, says, “Our ‘rivalry’ remains onscreen and not in social media, while I wish all my fans and followers to support your (Dhanush) good movies. ‘VadaChennai’.”
